This one is all about the hair. Well, and the nose, but mostly the hair.
This was taken while Adam was signing autographs outside the festival hall, most likely after "Marriage Story" premiered, and he'd run the gauntlet of the media exit interviews. Adam must have chosen to play with the office supplies in the room where he went to ground during the screening, because I expect his hair would have been a lot messier if he'd taken a nap. I'm not sure why he's so serious; it could just be that he's focused on something and gone and left his expression parked in neutral.
Our self-described sasquatch usually towers just tall enough that we do get to appreciate his profile, but don't get to properly appreciate the slightly haphazard glory that is the part in the waves of the dark sea of his hair. Instead of creating a ruler straight part, his groomer, Amy Komorowski, is careful to respect the little families that Adam's curls make, which helps his hair have a more natural looking style after she's done gently fixing everything into place. Some of the curls along his hairline were beginning to make a break for it despite her efforts, encouraged either by the humidity of the day, or the fact that Adam was probably sweating just a bit in that wool tux coat at the end of a late summer's day.
Photo used for reference was taken on 29 Aug 2019 at the Venice Film Festival.
About 10 hours of painting time. This is another piece painted as a part of the Two Cakes game I like to play with pangaeastarseed on Twitter, where we each paint a piece in our own style from the exact same reference.
