There's always something just a little bit magical about Adam at the Cannes Film Festival, but Cannes 2018 was even more remarkable than usual because it had something that we don't see very often; Adam positively beaming at a red carpet event. He was his usual subdued self for the "BlacKkKlansman" screening, looming awkwardly for the photos, but relaxed into things at that infamous after party, and he just got gradually looser, happier, and scruffier as the week went on.
By the time the photo call and premiere for "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" rolled around on 20 May, Adam was practically radiating joy, blinding everyone with these 1000 watt smiles, joking around and laughing with his castmates and Gilliam on the red carpet. They were all clearly celebrating the fact that an audience would FINALLY get to see this movie, despite all of the logistical and legal challenges that had plagued its production literally right up until the day before it was shown at Cannes.
With Adam due to make his first red carpet appearance in 16 months at Cannes 2021, the Driver Hive is buzzing in anticipation, and speculation is RIFE as to what look he'll be sporting. It'll be a glimpse of what he might look like for his run as Jack in Noah Baumbach's "White Noise," which is set to start filming any day now. Having read the book, my money is on Adam being (mostly) clean shaven. I say mostly, because just look at what he's got on his chin after a week at one of the most prestigious independent film festivals in the world.
Near as I can figure, that's at least 6, possibly 7, days worth of stubble. He showed up for the "BlacKkKlansman" screening on 14 May with what looked like transatlantic jet lag stubble, and then proceeded to never shave for the rest of the week. Adam's proclivity for showing up fuzzy like this to a surprising number of screenings and awards presentations makes me think that he'd gleefully throw his razor away forever if given the choice.
Here's hoping we get to see a smiling, happy Adam again at Cannes this year, however long, or short, his hair and stubble end up being.

About 10 hours of drawing time.
