"So may we start?"
The LONG awaited "Annette" trailer has finally been released, and it was by turns brilliant, bonkers, and befuddling; I have even MORE questions now than I did before I saw it, and I can hardly wait to find out what it all MEANS.
This also means we finally got to see Adam in character as Henry, and it looks like I could be happily making Henry portraits for a WHILE. I saw at least seven distinct looks in those 135 seconds! It's like they rummaged through his filmography and tried to pay homage to as many of the characters he's played as possible.
The common thread through all of them is that Adam is very lean and muscular. He's still broad as a barn, but his face has that burning intensity it gets when he's thinner; it's almost like he's been distilled. And I have a feeling that this "comic with a fierce sense of humor" is going to be a strong personality indeed. I don't know how to interpret the look on his face, and the trailer doesn't give us any proper context, so this is all purest speculation. He's so impassive it's almost like he's wearing a mask, with nary a rumple, dimple, or crinkle; but look at how wide his eyes are, and the intensity of his stare. That plus the stubborn set of his mouth and chin suggest to me that he's in a confrontation with someone. Who? We'll have to wait and see!
