We've been blessed recently (so blessed!) with a plethora of paparazzi shots of the filming of "House of Gucci", which feature our favorite Molto Grande Uomo looking very fine in vintage Gucci clothes, a honeyed-brown wig, and vivid blue contacts. As gorgeous and fun to paint as that all is, I found myself wanting to remind everyone of just how stunning Adam is all on his own. He is egregiously beautiful with his perfect imperfections and his generously proportioned features. *insert Lady Gaga singing "Born This Way" here*

The angle of the lighting the photographer chose to use emphasizes the contours of that remarkable face with the shadows they cast; the depth of the set of his eyes, the jut of his cheekbones, the prominence of his nose, the fullness of his lips, the point of his chin, the asymmetry of his jaw. That he was also the leanest we've seen him since he filmed "Silence" only serves to highlight the stark drama of his features even more.

It also highlights the expression that's hidden just below the surface of this very solemn one, once you can get past that arresting gaze; look at how tightly pursed his lower eyelids are, and the tiny beginnings of crinkles in the corners of his eyes, especially his right one. Trace your gaze down to the front point of his cheekbone and you see that the folds of his dimples are ever so faintly more prominent on that right side as well, and the corner of his mouth is curled ever so slightly. If you cover the left side of his face, and just look at his right, you'd think he was about to smile.

Photo used for reference was taken by Mark Seliger for the Netflix Queue Journal's Nov 2019 issue, with thanks to [profile] ginna_driver for sharing a lovely hq version.

This one took about 8 hours, plus fussing with all those tiny details that would bug me (and only me) if I didn't fix them.
