After doing that first portrait of Adam in a hour I decided to keep up with the idea of speed painting, just to see how long I could keep it up for. Well, it turned into less speedpainting, taking anywhere from 3 to 7 hours, but I did post a drawing every day for 6 days straight.

I'm a little proud of that.

I think my family (well, Mr Cello anyway, the kids are pretty accepting of my eccentricities) had gone mad, lol.

And on the 7th day, I rested, and plotted a gift for [personal profile] mrs_leary. That's the one of Santiago as Aramis, which was drawn in a few hours over a couple of days, as I had time to work on it.

The last couple of Driver portraits (VII and VIII) include a little bit of color; he has the most extraordinary eyes, if you can get the light in them & have a good enough camera. The photographers in both of those shoots did both, and it seemed a shame to reduce that to black and white.

I'll stop talking now. Enjoy the pretty. Comments are adored, all the more because I know that none of you asked for any of this. Well. Except for Santiago.

Adam Driver II

In which I found an excuse to draw his hand. Like I needed much of one.

OK, so truthfully, the HAND took an hour, and the rest of this was about another 2 hours on top of that. But that's still pretty quick for me.

With thanks to [profile] ktf_reylo's smutty twitter fic thread which inspired this. And she provided the ref b/c she's a really great enabler :D

Adam Driver III

I don't know anymore. I started this series as a way to help me loosen up my style and get to know my new favorite actor's face a bit better, and now I'm pretty much obsessed with his big beautiful paws. So.

With thanks to [profile] adamdriverfiles for posting the photo I used as a reference; I'd give credit to whoever took the original photo but the google image reverse search is being unhelpful and I have no idea who took it or when. But it's adorable.
Drawn in about 3 hours on a Wacom tablet. Un-beta'd.

Adam Driver IV

{honestly my favorite, aside from maybe VII but we'll get there}

I didn't time this one, but I'd guess I spent about 3 or 4 hours on it. Un-beta'd, Original photo credit Paola Kudacki, GQ, 21 July 2014

Adam Driver V

Today's hand porn comes courtesy of Adam's habit of stroking his beard with his hands, caught by a photographer at the 2020 Critic's Choice Awards this last January.

About 4 hours today, and I'm learning I like using actual photographic portraits better than event photos.

With thanks to [profile] adamdriverfiles for posting the original reference photo and enabling my continued obsession with this man and his big beautiful hands.

Adam Driver VI

{I told you it was a lot}

I've just given up pretending these are speedpaint exercises. Have some more Adam Driver hand porn. With bonus woobie eyes.

Seven and a half hours on this one; two hands means a lot more time! Plus I got distracted into refining his face.
Original photo reference credit to Marco Grob, date taken unknown, publication, if any, not listed, but lord is that a gorgeous photo.

Adam Driver VII

{this is the other one I'm fond of}

Look ma, no hands, but those EYES.

This is the first in this series that dabbles in color. I chose this particular reference because in addition to a striking pose (and unsettlingly direct gaze) the photographer managed to capture Adam's beautiful central heterochromia, and we can see all the lovely tawny greens and reddish browns in those peepers of his. It seemed a shame to reduce that to black and white.

With thanks to [profile] adamdriverfiles for the reference, a photo by Simon Emmett for a 2015 edition of Esquire.

Adam Driver VIII

I'm back to being at a loss for descriptions, but this one has a hand AND some intense eye contact. I get a really strong Clyde Logan vibe off of him, but that could just be the beard.

With thanks to [profile] adamdriverfiles for the reference photo, which was taken by Geordie Wood for an article dated 28 Dec 2016 in the New York Times.

Santiago Cabrera as Aramis

Last but certainly not least.
