Drew this today in a relatively short time (1.5 hours, that's fast for me lately) as a mini-glomp fest for
mrs_leary.
Clicking makes the picture bigger!

I know, I draw him a lot. But there is a lack of Gaius in the fandom, and I'm just working to help restore the balance or something like that. Had completely ridiculous amounts of fun with Merlin, shamelessly used a reference screencap (guess the episode and scene!), and completely forwent the idea of a background. Medium is a boring old #2 pencil, it's what was handy. :D

Date: 2011-04-07 03:44 pm (UTC)From:Oh my darling! Consider me well and truly glomped! Oh, I just love it! ♥
Once again, you've captured Gaius so very beautifully, and oh what a vivid expression. He's so alive! I think - not being an artist - it must be hard to draw an old face, but to draw one in the midst of such evocative life must be so much harder still... Excellent work!
And on top of that (nudge nudge) you give us bonus Merlin! I love how you've drawn him, too, and also the interaction between the two. And let me tell you, this is such inspiration for me right now, working on my wicked bigbang as I am...
Oh thank you so much! {glomps you back} You have helped turn a horrible day into a bright one. ♥
P.S. I am guessing here re the source, but did Merlin just make Arthur bray like a donkey...? :-DDD

Date: 2011-04-07 04:23 pm (UTC)From:This was a fun one to draw, he's so amused, and Merlin's expression, even from the side, is so earnest.
And of course there is bonus Merlin! Who else does Gaius look at like that? Plus it meant I got to draw that lovely neck, ear, cheekbone, eyelashes, lips.... I could go on. ^-^ And I was thinking of your lovely naughty bigbang when I chose to draw this particular scene. Hooray for mutual inspiration!
So so glad to have brightened your day! You are welcome so much! Your fic has brightened many a day for me. <3
PS, re the source, you got it in one! "It's too good!" Loved that scene. :DDD

He is so amused, isn't he? And also fond and sweet, and trying very hard to be disapproving but pretty much completely failing there... And not only did Richard manage to pull all that off, but you captured it - along with so much else - so well and so quickly. You are awesome. And you are right - much as he loves Uther and Arthur, no one but Merlin provokes all this delight in Gaius.
I have been showing off about my lovely gift, on my journal (nice comments already!) and at
I really need to make myself a Gaius icon, y'know?
Date: 2011-04-07 07:25 pm (UTC)From:THAT. Yes, that's why I chose that scene. :D
You are so lovely to rec my work! *blushes* Have I said how absurdly pleased I am that you love it?
And mutual inspiration is awesome! I can hardly wait to help you with your story in whatever way possible!

Now that I've decided to return to drawing, I keep seeing things that make me want to get cracking. I hardly know where to begin, though, honestly. This is going to be interesting!

Date: 2012-01-10 08:03 pm (UTC)From:Ahahaha, Merlin's face; I was so pleased that it came out such that you can tell he's got his earnest expression on, even though you can only see a little bit of his face.
