You're Velvet {art}

Originally posted as part of the 2014 Merlin_Art_Fest on LJ. Now that the fest has ended I'm allowed to repost! :-) I made my own prompt, inspired by mrs_leary's fic, "Velvet".

The creative gestation time on this one was longer than usual, as I had hoped to draw this in January of 2013, but I'm glad that I gave it the space and time it needed to develop properly in my head.

Many huge thanks and snuggly hugs to amphigoury and alby_mangroves for the beta help and encouragement to get all the little things right. ALL OF THEM. :D Thanks also to the guys in the #gsd_fandom chat at mibbit for being my cheerleaders, in particular [Unknown site tag] and rocknvaughn> for the late night handholding feedback. Also, YAY for a new medium!

This is another one for mrs_leary, who deserves all the wonderful things in the world; because this is what your words drew in my mind's eye, and I wanted to give that gift back to you (I hope you like it!).

The title refers to a passage near the end of the fic, which you really ought to go read. Go on, go! Leave love for it while you're there, okay?

Thank you, Thalia! It took me a while to get the expression I was looking for; where I started off from was just a bit too harsh for what I was aiming for. Amph very rightly pointed out that it needed softening, so I smoothed the furrows in his brow and got... this, which was exactly what I was looking for. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it!

Many many thanks to you and to kitty_fic for hosting the fest, I'm not sure that I would have ever gotten this idea of my head and onto the page otherwise, it had kind of taken up residence, lol. {{hugs}}

Thank you so much, Stacey! It should be fairly obvious by now, but I do love to render his bone structure. :D I'm happy to know you like the green I chose; green is a tricky color to get just so, I've found!

I think you may very well have, Bunny! I had that horrible manip that helped me see the anatomy of it all, and the quick sketch which actually wasn't too awful. I'm glad that even with a sneak peek into the process that you still like the final result :D
