Dapper in his velvet tux jacket with it's satin lapels, Adam was in his beautifully large Pale and Ben Solo hours, his cheeks sleek and his shoulder length hair gently feathered. He must have been on a break from filming TROS; given both the timing of this event and the length of his stubble, it had probably been a couple of weeks for the Christmas and New Year's holidays, and he wouldn't have started rehearsals for "Burn This" quite yet. Nominated for "Best Supporting Actor" in "BlackKklansman," he was also tasked with being an awards presenter along with his co star John David Washington. Joanne, for her part, was wearing a gently ruched sleeveless chiffon dress in a dusky rose so pale it almost looks beige under certain lighting. I love her deceptively simple jewelry, which matched the understated elegance of her dress.

This moment was captured somewhere between their car and the actual red carpet, and the casual nature of the interaction with this photographer seems to have prompted what looks like a more natural smile from Adam, who usually tends to be a bit aloof on a red carpet, uncomfortable with being the focus of the spectacle.

Of course, Adam's smiles are always a little bit more of everything when Joanne is with him; his mouth pulls just that littlest bit wider, those dimples and crinkles carve deeper, and then there's the sparkle in his eyes, which are fairly snapping with good humor. It's clear he's more than a little of a wife guy. Given half a chance to sing her praises, he'll let you know that of the two of them, he thinks she's the better actor, and he's repeatedly stated that he feels a large part of his success stems from her support & the role she plays in keeping him grounded.

This June marks their 10th wedding anniversary, and today Adam gets to celebrate Father's Day as a father of not one, but two children, Joanne having delivered another baby earlier this year. He's on an extended break from filming projects, and I hope they get to spend a lot of time this month relaxing and celebrating with each other.

Photo taken by Greg Williams on 6 Jan 2019 as Adam and Joanne arrived on the red carpet at the Golden Globes awards.

About 31 hrs of drawing time. Painting two people, especially when one is someone I've never painted before, takes more time than one!
