He was too beautiful NOT to paint.
Most of the time, I paint these because there's a great story behind the expression he's making, or to celebrate a particular milestone, or a particularly fine look he had in that moment. In terms of character portraits, they're always about moments that show how Adam embodied those characters, how his performance brought them to such vivid life.
But sometimes it's just because he's beautiful.
This is one of those times. I couldn't resist. If I'm honest, every one of the Burberry Hero portraits I've done is pretty much just me going, "omg LOOK at him," and wanting to try my hand at capturing that.
So I did.

About 25 hours of painting time for this one. Many of the tiny dark speckles on him are not actually freckles or moles, but the fine dark sand from the beaches of Tenerife, which is pulverized volcanic rock instead of the much paler coral and shell sand many of us are used to. It's not black like the sand on the Big Island of Hawaii, but it is a very deep chocolate brown that, if you weren't looking carefully, could very easily be mistaken for beauty marks. He has plenty of those too, especially after having been in the sun for 4 days straight; freckles are extra vivid after that much time outside, even with good sunblock!
