She's sweet and soft spoken, right up until you try to harm the books. She'll protect the flame of knowledge, no matter the cost.

I've had a lot of fun going through the characters and trying to match up their personalities/choices with particular suits. Diamonds were originally Coins, and will be folks with a decided mercenary streak. Hearts are derived from Cups. Spades were originally swords, so you can see where I'd go with that.
Clubs are, well, clubs. Or clovers! So these characters are a mix, gentle when they can be, forceful when not.
If you'd like to know more about the evolution of the modern deck of cards, there's a helpful article at wikipedia.
Many thanks as always to my beta, Amphigoury, and cheerleader Jelazakazone. More thanks are due to @HouseAtMurs and @TheWeltersChallenge for encouraging me to keep going on the series and get this piece done!

Date: 2019-04-28 04:35 am (UTC)From:The arms and hands are a choice made by the actress, who is very intentional in her pose and movements. I love how identifiable her character is, JUST by the way she holds herself. It's jarring to see the actress out of character b/c she's so consistent with this body language on camera. A bit like hearing Colin's native accent after watching so much Merlin, lol!
I had a moment, after I mirrored the drawing, where I stepped back and thought that I'd gone and drawn a Hindu goddess without really meaning to, but then decided that I rather liked the effect on the whole. I'm glad you liked it too!
