So, this is for the "style of famous artists" challenge at [livejournal.com profile] drawmelot. I chose DaVinci's Mona Lisa, with Morgana as La Joconde. Anyone see Camelot? :D

Big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] reni_m, [livejournal.com profile] yue_ix and [livejournal.com profile] amphigoury for the beta help!

Medium was watercolor pencil on sketchbook paper.

Oh wow, that's gorgeous! I love the softness, and colours, and the castle. Very very pretty. :)

Oh I love how you replicated the aged warm colors in this.
Definitely a 'before they were evil' portraits, Morgana is so soft looking in this.
Camelot Castle looks great in the background!!
Fantastic job!!

Thanks so much amph! So, no white balance was OK? :D

Thank you! I spent FOREVER trying to get her hands and arms right. Like, HOURS. But the background was not too bad. :D

Wow, even Leonardo would be impressed!

Thanks! :D This one worried me. All the big bang stuff ate up all my free time and I couldn't start this, really, until last week!

All good! It gives it warm aged look!

Hee, thank you! Sneaking the castle in was fun. :D

Thanks, reni! I had to layer so many odd colors together to get that look; I'm glad it works! I just couldn't make her look hard, the pose is so calm. And I had fun figuring out where and how to sneak Camelot in. :D

Thank you, I had to work hard to get the colors to not be so bright, and I took a long time figuring out how to dress her. It's a conglomeration of a bunch of different ones we've seen using different colors, of course! :D

Thank you! I did her hair and eyes, first, they're always my favorite part. :D The background was fun to replicate, with certain, small, differences. ^-^

Hee. I see Camelot!

It's really cool how you captured the entire *feel* of the painting with the soft lines and muted tones. Also, Morgana's dress is gorgeous! And you still managed to work the sleeve folds in there. *g* Your pencil work is SUPERB.

Definitely one of my favourites for this challenge. :D

Yay, it is done! You really got a great colour scheme going on that has a perfect aged painting feel to it. The mix of browns and purples in her hair and clothes make lovely nuanced shadows. Her face and hands stand out nicely. I love how you ended up dressing her, too, and the hint of Camelot.

My favourite bit is her eyes. You made them so well, I feel we could crop everything else out and know at once it's her.

Thank you very much! I stared at that painting for a long time, let me tell you! I had to layer the very bright colors of my pencil set rather a lot to get those muted tones. ^-^ I'm glad you like the way the dress turned out! The sleeve folds were fun to work with, and I'm very flattered by your compliment regarding my use of a pencil. :D

Thanks so much! I used an absurdly huge amount of dark brown in this. It was such a relief to get to the blues and greens in the background, though I had to tone them down with brown, of course, lol. As for the castle, that spot in the painting looked so much like turrets already, all I had to do was give it a Camelot-y shape.

Thank you, I loved drawing her eyes. I always end up filling those in before everything else because it's my favorite part, lol. And she has such beautiful eyes, it was fun to get to try to recreate them on paper.
