Enzo #1 (a father's grief) {art}
A father, undone by the loss of a child.
Way back in 2011, on the red carpet for "Man and Boy," Adam mentioned to an interviewer that, "father-son stories are always very interesting to me", and as m_bee4 pointed out on twitter recently, "90% of adam's film choices make sense if you know this." And I'd definitely say that holds true for this story as well. There's lots of other reasons that Adam took this job-- his admiration of Michael Mann, for one-- but this story of a father, so used to overcoming adversity with grit and hard work, who fought & lost the battle against a deadly genetic disease afflicting his child, is almost certainly one of them.
I'll admit that I'm not going to watch "Ferrari" because of the cars, or the race, or because Enzo Ferrari was a titan in the industry, although I'm sure I'll appreciate all of that under the deft direction of a master like Mann. I'm going to watch it for the depth of humanity that Adam is so good at bringing to the characters he plays.
I'm going to watch it because he broke my heart with these two seconds of the trailer.
The reference for this one was a screencap of the "Ferrari" teaser trailer taken and edited by me.
About 3 hours of painting time. This one was more about the emotion than any kind of meticulous accuracy.
